The Social Welfare & Community Services unit is dedicated to promoting the well-being, protection, and inclusion of all individuals within the district, especially vulnerable and marginalized groups. Through targeted programmes and community-based initiatives, the Assembly works to improve living conditions and empower communities for sustainable development.

  • Child Protection Services: Safeguarding the rights and welfare of children through case management, family support, and intervention in cases of abuse, neglect, or exploitation.
  • LEAP Programme Support: Facilitation and monitoring of the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) programme to support extremely poor households with financial assistance.
  • Community Development Initiatives: Promoting self-help projects, community mobilization, and capacity building to enhance local development and participation.
  • Gender & Social Protection Services: Addressing issues related to gender equality, domestic violence, and social protection through awareness, support, and referrals.
